Hi, I’m DALIA.

There are few things I love more than a good story and a woman who knows her power. My loves are what gave birth to this company.

From girlhood to womanhood, my life has always been inspired by epic stories of women. Every woman in my life, from my mom to my best friends, has been a source of inspiration.

Romance novels and cozy mysteries are some of my favorite indulgences. Give me a powerful heroine, a wonderful hero (because great men are a necessity!), and a cup of tea — and I’m happy as can be.

When I’m not reading these stories of powerful women, I’m listening to them on a Beyoncé album or watching them unfold on a show made by Shonda Rhimes. I’m always enthralled by stories, and as founder and publisher at House of Lionesa, I look forward to curating them here.

At House of Lionesa, you’ll find romance, cozy mysteries, self-development, and everything in between. But most importantly, you’ll find the Powerful Feminine.

WHAT IS THE POWERFUL FEMININE?

The Powerful Feminine is the level of consciousness a woman embodies when she owns every part of herself, loves herself, and reigns over her life.

 FUN FACTS!

  • While deepening my inner work around the Powerful Feminine, I had a dream of a lioness jumping into a space where I was lying and peacefully snuggling into me. She seemed very at home. I later learned that the Lioness symbolizes fierce feminine leadership and sovereignty. That felt fitting to me!

  • For the authors who choose to go by pen names, we’ve chosen to go with names that symbolize female archetypes. Some of those archetypes have been idealized at the expense of others. At House of Lionesa, we choose to reclaim all parts of womanhood. We honor them for all the wisdom, pleasure, and power they offer. Our first author, Sophia Siren, is exactly that. Sophia is a feminine name that means wisdom. Even in the most patriarchal terms, Sophia is honored. Siren, however, is associated with destructive feminine pleasures that lure men to their death. There’s often a lot of shame for women who are known as sirens, their stories are often told through the lens of the men who felt ruined by these sirens, and the shame often outweighs the power. But at House of Lionesa, we always honor the power. The Powerful Feminine.

  • Every layer of this company is infused with reverence for the Divine Feminine. Everything from our formal company birthday on the 13th and the lioness-Bastet connection, to the feminine archetypes portrayed here, it’s all with the intention of honoring The Goddess and Her rightful Holy place in our minds, lives, and culture. As women, when we remember The Goddess and her Divine role at the center of our lives, we remember our roles, our rights, our voices, and our power.

  • The first empress of Ayiti (Haiti), Marie-Claire Heureuse Félicité Bonheur Dessalines, was a public embodiment of the Powerful Feminine. Her way of honoring herself led her out of slavery and into royalty. She revolutionized what romance, mystery, identity, and marriage looked like for women. Her ideals weave their way into our work at House of Lionesa. Our first release, the romance novella Heart Meets Boss, features a Haitian female character challenging the man who becomes her love and her husband. Similarly, many of our upcoming works feature Haitian female characters as the lead and the inspiration.
